- “Getting endless calls again yet again. A lot of threats too on my WhatsApp. Please am begging you, do not respond to the propaganda they’re trying to distract everyone from the Adani issue,” wrote Hanifa on X.

Following the unprecedented scale of police brutality against unarmed protestors in recent demonstrations, Hanifa volunteered to raise funds to cover medical costs for the injured youth.
The vocal EastleighVoice columnist raised a whooping 30 million Kenya shillings to foot the medical bills of bed-ridden Gen Z protestors who were badly battered by police officers.
Millions of shillings were raised in record time thanks to the formidable M-Changa platform, designed for effective crowdsourcing of funds.
Hanifa’s initiative was widely regarded as successful, only second to Eric Omondi’s Sisi kwa Sisi fundraising model.

Backed with a rapidly growing kitty, Hanifa combed several health facilities in the city attending to protestors’ medical bills.
Some of the hospitals she visited include the Kenyatta National Hospital, Nairobi West Hospital, and Mbagathi Hospital, among other health facilities in Kenya.
Her commendable act of selflessness was overshadowed by persistent attacks and baseless suspicions regarding the potential misuse of the funds.
Twitter heavy hitters led by bloggers Francis Gaitho and Meverick Aoko launched relentless attacks Hanifa, accusing her of diverting part of the funds.
Gaitho in particular called for a comprehensive audit of the charity funds, daring Hanifa to clear her name.
With her mental health at stake, Hanifa obliged to the demands and published an audit report on how every shilling was spent.

According to reports, Kenyans gifted the activist received an extra 200,000 shillings as an appreciation token for her diligence.
The surplus funds accompanied congratulatory comments on social media and stamps of approval for a job well done.
Titled ‘Financial Audit of the Care for the Injured Fundraiser’, the audit report was compiled by the Seal Associates Accounting Firm.
Suspected Government Bloggers Dispute Hanifa’s M-Changa Audit
Shady Twitter (X) handles have emerged in a determined drive to discredit Hanifa’s efforts.
Under the ludicrous #HanifaHeist X hashtag, skeptical users have launched a barrage of attacks against the activist, accusing her of carting away millions of shillings from the well-known M-Changa drive.
The individuals alleged inconsistencies in Hanifa’s audit report on amounts paid to hospitals. According to the dubious bloggers, several hospitals claim that the amounts declared are less than actual amounts paid by Hanifa’s initiative.
Massive confusion ensued over the veracity of these claims, with some outrageously alleging that the activist bought an apartment in Nairobi’s South C estate using the funds in question.
Hanifa has come out strongly to deny the allegations, terming them a ploy by government operatives to distract the public from the heated Adani Group debate.
Led by airport workers, Kenyans have furiously reacted to the imminent takeover of Kenya’s airports by Adani, and want the Indian firm out of the country.
