Original Stinger Takes King Kaka’s Gorilla Academy by Storm with Remarkable Lyricism
Original Stinger is one of the multiple talents featured on King Kaka’s Gorilla Academy.
Gorilla Academy is a music mentorship program spearheaded by one of Kenya’s finest rappers and musical entrepreneurs Kennedy Ombima, popular by his stage names Rabbit and lately King Kaka.
The academy is fashioned as a YouTube show hosted by Kaka, media personality Mariah, and top music producer Vinc on the Beat.
Alongside other young talents, Original Stinger appeared before the 3-judge bench for a 60-second performance.
The performance starts with a short introduction of the artist, followed by producer Vinc playing a classic hip-hop beat.
The artists then freestyle over the beat, demonstrating their flow, lyrical skill, and delivery.
After a performance, Kaka and his 2 colleagues award points and give brief comments based on the 60-second cameo.
The freestyle contest also included other fiery talents like Swahili Jangili, Slinger Triple One, and Mitchy the Rapper.
Stinger emerged as the judges’ favorite as he scooped the highest points on both ‘Round of 16’ and ‘Round of 8’ editions of the show.
Producer Vinc on the Beat proclaimed that the Holy Spirit was felt in the room as the glowing King Kaka and Mariah praised his powerful storytelling, impressive flow, and lyrical mastery.
“He has a very clear storytelling depiction. I can see where he lives and the language he’s using is very relatable. He’s talented and I think I already found my winner,” said Mariah reacting to Stinger’s dynamite performance.
Stinger is a typical urban rapper, utilizing the popular Sheng city dialect and blending it within the Kenyan UrbanTone music sub-genre.
Urban tone is now riding at the top of Kenyan airwaves, effectively phasing out the once-lucrative Gengetone music.
Stinger looks to join other high-flying artists under the UrbanTone umbrella including Tipsy Gee, Breeder LW, and Gody Tennor.

Original Stinger Teams Up With Kenrazy For Money Gun
Original Stinger’s exploits got the attention of one of Kenya’s finest lyricists Kenrazy. Kenrazy belongs to the Shida Mbili boyband with fellow musician Visita.
The two rappers came to prominence for their work under the Grandpa Records label. Their stint at the label was punctuated with several hits that topped Kenyan musical charts for years.
Kenrazy climbed the musical ladder thanks to his hit songs like Tichi, Mbilikimo Mkora, and Vitambi among others.
Recently, Kenrazy enlisted the red-hot Original Stinger for his new banger Money Gun. The song is featured on Razy’s EP, *A Different World*, with the video having been released on July 31, 2024.
