Morara Exposes White Elephant Public Projects
The self-styled Bishop of Merciless Peace is a man on a mission. Following the recent civil unrest and rage towards the regime, Morara set out to investigate colossal government failures in public service.
Mr. Kebaso Snr. has visited several government projects from Nairobi, Ukambani region to the Kanyagwal area near the shores of Lake Victoria.
Accompanied by a camera crew and 2 personal security guys, Kebaso has been traveling and exposing undone yet paid-for projects in Kenya.
In a social media video series dubbed “Vampire Diaries” the Chief Registrar of Broken Promises visited the Kabonyo Fisheries Aquaculture Project among other projects.
The ambitious Fisheries and Aquaculture Research Institute, launched by President Ruto, was slated to receive funding of 2.5 billion from the Exim Bank of Hungary.
According to Morara’s revelation at a local breakfast show, no contractor has been on-site since the president launched the project in October 2023. A video he posted on the site shows kids playing on the empty unfenced piece of land, save for the plaque used in the presidential launch.
Kebaso Snr has also toured the Kipkaren water treatment project in Uasin Gishu County. The prized water project was set to pump 23 million liters of water per day into the new Eldoret city. 7 years after the project was initiated, no water is flowing with the contractor having already pocketed 767 million shillings.
The outspoken advocate has also filmed along the Devki-Kinanie road in Machakos which was allocated 1.78 billion-shilling funding in 2021.
According to his findings, there has been little significant progress on the road, despite taxpayers having already invested 238 million shillings.
His visit to Wote Stadium in Makueni was even more startling, as it was apparent that no progress had been made despite 162 million shillings being paid to contractors.
Morara heeds call by Kenyans to investigate odious debt
Morara’s work has garnered recognition from Kenyans across various sectors, with some individuals offering to contribute and support his commendable efforts.
Morara’s X handle is dotted with gratitude messages to Kenyans who have sent him money for fuel and upkeep as he exposes fraudulent and inexistent government projects.
For his brilliant exposes, the home furniture entrepreneur has received overwhelming calls to audit the infamous public debt.
The country’s dire debt situation has been recently well-articulated by former government insider and businessman Jimi Wanjigi.
According to Mr. Wanjigi, Kenyans owe nothing to anyone as the widely reported 11 trillion-shilling debt was acquired unconstitutionally.
Armed with government documents from the national treasury and Central Bank of Kenya, Wanjigi maintains that all monies acquired in debt were not approved by Kenya’s parliament making the debts odious.
Jimi Wanjigi appears to have a new-found ally in the cause in Morara. Announcing his imminent investigations into the odious debt, Morara tweeted as follows:
“Fellow Kenyans. I am starting to audit the odious public debt. I will go debt by debt and will focus on the date borrowed, lender, loan amount, project for, how much we have paid, and our balance. I will then visit the site and show you the project financed by the loan. This program will run alongside my countrywide tour of hot air projects where money has been stolen but nothing has happened.”
Mr. Kebaso also attends numerous TV interviews to further articulate the plight of the Kenyan taxpayer. Facing TV show hosts and panelists, Kebaso lays bare the spectacular hemorrhage of public money in non-existent projects.
Apart from the white elephant projects and odious debt, the Bishop of Merciless Peace has also declared war against pending bills, terming it a corruption milking machine.
The eloquent lawyer accused the government of colluding with contractors to intentionally delay payment only to release them at higher interest because of late payment. In a local TV interview, the self-styled government watchdog gave an example of Thwake Dam where more than 200 million shillings have been paid as interest.
Morara’s investigative clips are coming in thick and fast, thanks to advanced audio-visual technology and social media. Videos of the avid traveler speaking on top of vehicle sunroofs recreating the president’s promises have flooded social networks such as Twitter (x), TikTok, and YouTube. Other hilarious videos show him standing next to commemorative plaques installed at the site of new projects to mark the official opening or the start of construction.
